ATV2 Surface and Stitch Research point 1

Doing some research into artists who have used darning or repair in their work and came across Hannah Streefkerk, a Dutch textile artist.

She uses crochet and embroidery to stitch together bits of nature that have broken or torn, with humour and love. She repairs torn bark with stitches, fills holes in leaves with darning and crochets protective covers for stones. Some of her work is on a very large scale and some of it on a micro scale with bits of leaves stitched together to make new shapes. She plays with colour and shape and scale, sometimes her work blends perfectly in to nature and at other times it pops out with a burst of colour and texture.
